Œdipe roi.

Lighting, video and scenic design for live performance.

Oedipus Rex.

For this production of Oedipus Rex by Sophocles, directed by Philippe Adrien at the Théâtre de la Tempête, the video design developed by Sébastien Sidaner accompanies the tragedy as a dramaturgical material in its own right. The images extend the tension of the text and contribute to the construction of a mental space where memory, fate and power are constantly confronted.

The video work is part of a sober and immersive scenography, in dialogue with Pascal Sautelet’s lighting and the scenic world imagined by Gérard Didier. Projections, textures and visual apparitions create depths on stage and shifting zones of perception, reinforcing the tragic and timeless dimension of the work.

Through this creation, image becomes a sensitive scenic language, able to accompany bodies, silences and the tensions of the narrative without ever taking precedence over the actors’ performance. Here, video acts as a discreet yet structuring presence, serving the staging and the spectator’s experience.
