Lighting and video design for a stage journey through The Tempest.
A space crossed by forces, images and presences.
For The Tempest, the lighting and video design accompanies the physical and poetic journey imagined by Compagnie Arc Électrique around Shakespeare’s work. The visual work builds a shifting space, crossed by the tensions of the stage, bursts of light and transformations of the image.
Video is conceived as a stage material in its own right: it dialogues with bodies, movements and the rhythms of the performance without seeking direct illustration. The projections, luminous textures and variations in intensity contribute to the creation of an unstable landscape, between inner storm, memory and apparition.
Light accompanies this dramaturgy of movement by sculpting spaces of presence and disappearance. The device seeks a balance between visual power and restraint, allowing the actors’ performance and the scenography to breathe fully.
This creation continues a research into the relationships between image, light and living space, in an approach where technology remains in the service of the stage and sensation.
